You are able to post links in YouTube comments but you have to keep a few things in mind.

The first one is that the link should be relevant to the video you’re commenting on. The owner of the channel will delete your comment if you put a link that is irrelevant to their video and YouTube will flag it as spam. This is why the link has to be relevant.

The second thing to remember is that you shouldn’t post links in the comments or more than 30 times a day or in a short time period. If you do this, YouTube will flag you as a “spammer” and your links won’t be visible to other people, only to you. YouTube does this so that spammers can’t tell if other people can see their links or not.

YouTube allows the owner of the channel to filter out the links. They can also approve which channels can comment links and which can’t.

As an owner of a channel, you can disable links in your comments. To do this, make sure you’re logged in first. Next, click on the circle with your profile picture and a pop-up menu will appear. There will be a lot of options on that menu. You want to go to the third option which is YouTube Studio. Click on the YouTube studio and wait for the site to load. This will take you to your dashboard.

On your left-hand side of the screen, there will be some more options. The second to last option should be settings and this is the option you want to click on. Once you go to the settings, a box is going to pop up. There will be another menu on the left-hand side of the box. You will be able to choose between General, Channel, Upload defaults, Permissions, and Community.

You want to go to Community. Here you will be able to add moderators, approved users, hidden users, and blocked users. You can even choose which words you want to block in your comments. If you scroll down you will find a box that you can check to allow or block links. If you check this, all comments that have a hashtag will be held for review. Comments with URLs will also be blocked. This setting won’t apply to you, or the moderators and approved users.

Make sure you save once you change the settings. If you don’t save the settings then the links won’t be blocked.

You can try putting in a link in a YouTube comment by copying it and then pasting it in the comment. However, this doesn’t always work and you might get an error when trying to post a comment that has a link in it.

If this happens to you, don’t worry. You can simply go to a website that converts your link to a full-width text. Once you convert your link you just copy it and paste it in the comments. This time, YouTube will allow you to post the link and you won’t get the error. The link, however, won’t be clickable. If someone wants to go to your link they will have to copy it and paste it into their web browser.

That being said, just because this method works it doesn’t mean that someone won’t mark your comment as spam.
